Po MoMa w Nowym Jorku i Centre Pompidou w Paryżu prace Rogera Ballena przyjadą do Łodzi. Volker Hinz pokaże swoje zdjęcia najważniejszych postaci z showbiznesu i polityki XX wieku. A warsztaty fotograficzne poprowadzi czołowa postać legendarnej agencji Magnum Photos – Alex Webb. Od 5 do 15 czerwca trzynasta edycja Międzynarodowego Festiwalu Fotografii w Łodzi.
Fotofestiwal od lat skupia się na prezentowaniu w Polsce fotografii światowej klasy. Roger Ballen to autor jednych z najbardziej niepokojących kadrów w historii fotografii. Będzie to pierwsza w Polsce tak duża indywidualna wystawa jego prac. Kolejny rarytas to fotografie Volkera Hinza. Jego zdjęcia gwiazd, takich jak Clint Eastwood, Madonna, Woody Allen, Pierre Cardin zostały stworzone na zamówienie prestiżowych magazynów, a sam Hinz przez ponad 40 lat swoimi fotografiami z USA i południowej Afryki definiował styl niemieckiego magazynu „Stern”. Wystawa obejmie ponad 70 prac, spośród których pięć trafi pod młotek na aukcji fotografii w ramach 12. edycji projektu Fotografia Kolekcjonerska. Kwartet wybitnych nazwisk fotografii zamyka Brian Griffin, autor zdjęć okładkowych Depeche Mode czy Kate Bush, które zostaną pokazane w Monopolis – kolejnym, nowootwartym poprzemysłowym kompleksie kulturalnym.
Panele dyskusyjne i spotkania autorskie 13. edycji Fotofestiwalu poświęcone będą tematowi PRZYSZŁOŚCI. Nauczeni jesteśmy, że aparat jest stworzony do rejestracji teraźniejszości, że pozwala momentalnie naszą teraźniejszość zamienić w przeszłość. „Aparaty zapewniają natychmiastowy wsteczny ogląd naszych przeżyć” pisze Susan Sontag. Jaka jest więc możliwość opowiedzenia o przyszłości za pomocą fotografii? Czy fotografia można stworzyć wizje przyszłości, czy raczej jej przeznaczeniem jest opowiadać o przeszłości i zostawiać ślad teraźniejszości? Czy jest miejsce dla fotografów-wizjonerów? Podczas Future Photo Show spotkamy się z artystami, którzy tworzą obrazy przyszłości: Phillipem Toledano, Vincentem Fournierem.
I stały punkt programu Fotofestiwalu: wystawy finalistów Grand Prix. W tym roku jest ich dziesięcioro. Projekt Stigma Adama Lacha, tworzony początkowo jako reportaż na zamówienie, zdobył zainteresowanie „The New York Times” i przyniósł autorowi wyróżnienie Picture of The Year. Zdjęcia opowiadają o 60-osobowej rodzinie rumuńskich Romów, mieszkających na koczowisku we Wrocławiu. Nie jest to jednak kolejny rozdział barwnej legendy o cyganerii, do której społeczność romska jest mylnie zaliczana. Elena Chernyshova - tegoroczna laureatka World Press Photo, pokaże z kolei projekt poświęcony jednemu z najbardziej zanieczyszczonych miast świata, Norylskowi. Zdobywca nagrody Grand Prix Fotofestiwal 2013 zostanie ogłoszony w dniu rozpoczęciu festiwalu. Powędruje do niego 10 000 zł.
Na wystawach towarzyszących zobaczymy prace takich polskich artystów jak Anita Andrzejewska czy Kuba Dąbrowski, a także Evgenii Arbugaevej, której prace tworzą wystawę „Leica Oskar Barnack Award 2013”. Rosjanka opowie o bajkowym dzieciństwie na dalekiej Syberii. Evgenia to jedno z najciekawszych fotograficznych odkryć ostatnich lat, a jej prace obejrzymy dzięki współpracy z warszawską Leica Gallery.
