30 września rozpocznie się V festiwal Transfotografia w Gdańsku i potrwa aż do 19 grudnia Tematem wiodącym tegorocznej edycji jest natura i jej różne oblicza. W programie znalazło się 7 wystaw, prezentujących twórczość artystów z Francji, Szwecji, Irlandii, Szwajcarii, Islandii oraz Polski. Celem tegorocznej edycji jest pokazanie różnych podejść do zagadnienia natury, od dokumentu, przez fotografię społeczną aż po tę ukazującą jej czyste piękno.
Prace zaproszonych artystów są wynikiem prywatnych obserwacji, badań i poszukiwań w obszarze tego, czym jest dla środowisko naturalne. Dostrzegają niebezpieczeństwo, jakie niesie ze sobą niekontrolowany proces eksploatacji zasobów naturalnych ziemi. Swoimi pracami chcą zwrócić uwagę na jednostronne relacje człowieka i natury, a więc czerpania korzyści z jej bogactw i często bezmyślnej eksploatacji. Łączą rozwój aglomeracji miejskich czy ekspansji przemysłu z jakością życia społecznego i relacji międzyludzkich. Wiele z prezentowanych prac jest na pograniczu sztuki i nauki.
Wystawa inaugurująca festiwal w galerii Pionova, Jackie Nickerson z cyklu 10 miles round, to swoisty zapis socjologiczny rodzinnej miejscowości w Irlandii, przywołujący skojarzenia z twórczością Zofii Rydet czy Augusta Sandera. Artystka skoncentrowała się na fotografowaniu tych ‘niewidzialnych’ mieszkańców Co Louth, rolników czy rybaków, przeczuwając, że już niebawem mogą zniknąć bezpowrotnie.
Towarzysząca jej wystawa Jean Pierre Gilsona Sur les parcours pavés du Paris – Roubaix to pejzażowe, bardzo malarskie fotografie, ukazujace drogi i pejezaże Paris – Roubaix. Kompozycja, klarowność i czystość pejzażu potęgują estetykę jego prac, ukazując zarazem ducha tego miejsca.
Kolejnym artystą prezentowanym w galerii Pionova jest Ferit Kuyas, który działa na pograniczu fotografii dokumentalnej i socjologicznej. W swoim cyklu City of Ambition przedstawia przedmieścia, niezwykle dynamicznie zmieniającej się 32 milionowej aglomeracji Chonqing. Jego prace zwracają uwagę na zagrożenia wynikające z polityki wodnej prowadzonej przez Chiny.
Petur Thomson w Imported landscape pokazuje odwieczną walkę człowieka i natury. Artysta eksponuje kolejne etapy budowy największego, ale także najbardziej kontrowersyjnego projektu elektrowni wodnej, w historii Islandii.
W galerii Żak, będziemy mieli okazję obcować z fotografiami Helene Schmitz, Blow up prezentujące prawie surrealistyczne piękno kwiatów.
Laurent Mayeux prezentujący swój cykl In iceland with Holga CSW Łaźnia, to surowe, minimalistyczne fotografie wykonane tanim, wyprodukowanym w Chinach aparatem Holga. W swoich syntetycznych pracach artysta łączy modę z pejzażem, eksplorując więzi między uniwersum, miejscem i człowiekiem.
Ostatnią wystawą tegorocznej Transfotografii będzie Projekt UFO Szymona Rogińskeigo. W przestrzeni kościoła Św. Jana zobaczymy serię kolorowych, wielkoformatowych fotografii przesiąkniętych mistycyzmem i duchowością, a zarazem nowoczesnych i tak dalekich od tradycyjnie pojmowanej fotografii pejzażowej. Obcując z pracami tego artysty można mieć wrażenie, że snuje on opowieść o tajemniczych i odludnych miejscach należących do Obcych.
Zaprezentowane w Gdańsku wystawy zastanawiają się nad otaczającą nas rzeczywistością i zmuszają do chwili namysłu i refleksji, nad nią jak i nad nami samymi.
